Fitting Rox Risers

I've got a set of Rox Risers about to be delivered, and I've noted through the forum that I'll need to drop the forks to move cables behind them, to allow for the 2.25" rise.

Can anyone give me some hints as to how to drop the forks and what, if anything, I need to watch out for?

Will I need more than my hammer and 2" trowel?

Pop the black plastic caps off the tops of the forks. There'll be a nut in there. Use a socket (not a trowel ) and a spanner to hold the fork leg, take the nut off and the fork leg will drop.

Move the cables etc and lift the fork leg back-up and refit the nut. Put the plastic caps back on.

Simple as that! Best of luck - the Rox Risers er... Rock!

... but they are a proper bastard to fit as they cover the rear (if canted backwards) clamp bolt so it has to be pre-tightened. You'll find out what I mean when you fit them; it's not impossible, just time consuming

I have an 08 GS and have just 10 minutes ago finished fitting Rox risers.
I had no trouble with the brake line plenty long enough. The problem was the throttle cable. Take off the throttle housing and run the cable under the bars re-fit and all is well.

I received my 2.25" risers and fitted them yesterday. I had already had a longer brake hose made and fitted, then rerouted the clutch hose and left side electrical cable behind the fork leg. The problem for me is that the electrical cable is too short, by about 40mm, I would guess. It will be ok for the meantime, but I will look at trying to get hold of a longer one, or, failing that, extend this one.
The stock brake hose is 450mm and the one I had made is 535mm, which may be a bit too long.

I'll try the throttle housing fix first, as it should be easier. Cheers Orca. I've got a set of pivot pegs coming too, and I reckon the combo of both should make a big difference for a bit of off roading.

Also, I'm more interested in getting the bars nearer to me. How much can one move the bars back without hitting the tank on full lock?

I got around 1.5" - 2" or so back and they don't interfere with the tank or even the tank-bag!

Yep, I talked to Ryan also. I just didn't want to pay import duty, and VAT. I'll get onto him again and order them. Maybe they'll slip through customs.

2" back sounds just perfect. Thanks for info, I can now buy with impunity.

I don't think that'll be a problem, as the overall cost should be below the import tax threshold. I paid $101.00 including shipping and expect them to fly through here. The Pivot pegs are a different matter, but the guy I spoke to has put a much lower value on the export form, so they should come through without any problems.

The risers arrived yesterday, with no import duty.

Can anyone advise me of the torque setting for the fork nut, or do I just tighten by hand?

Fitted the risers (sorry for the torque question, stupid stupid me). I found that dropping the forks to re-route the cables was the easiest method, with the helping hands of L, or -L- as he's sometimes known.
