Five days in netherlands

Eiffel?

With a 5 day window you could do worse than head down the E40 for a couple of hours (getting the pain of Belgium out of the way)and make your way down the excellent 258 into the Eiffel area.

You could base yourself there at one of the excellent biker friendly hotels such as:

or:

http://www.lostin.de/locations/forsthausriedenermuehle.html

or alternatively just wander about the area and take pot luck. There are plenty of places to stay, or visit, and the roads are as good as any you'll find within easy striking distance of Ostend.

Micky of this parish runs regular trips to the area and has a good knowledge of routes and POI's. Might be worth picking his brain if he;'s got it plugged in:D.

Bearing in mind we have 5 days and

Get a map of Europe, pick a point, any point and ride to it on back roads, you won't go far wrong:thumb

From someone who lives here...

I always come over to the UK if I want real riding pleasure... (or go way South or East)

If you really want to spend the time here..

the suggestion of riding the dyke roads around the Rhine is very good advice...

you can ride a road right across the middle of the Issel (good for an hour of fun.. the South end of that crossing has a Ship museum.

In my experience, riding along the coastal roads in the North if mostly boring as you are INSIDE the dyke... :blast

Riding along the coast from Ijmuiden down to Belgium is a long day.. You get the tulips at this time of the year in the North.. and you get to see the Water control structures starting from the big wheely thing on the Rhine at Hook of Holland, and it's not totally a waste of time between there and Belgium.

Spending time in the SE corner of the country is the most like UK.. and then you are close for a bimble South into Belgium and the Ardennes..

Generally if I want to have fun here.. I go someplace random.. set the GPS to shortest distance home and enjoy the little towns and routes along the canals...

It's not like riding in the UK, or Ardennes, or Germany, or Italy, or Swiz..... you get the idea...
