Location
Quite a long way from the top
And I've finally bought a GS :D. A 2005 1150 adventure and she's lovely..

1st issue - does anyone have or know the location of an exploded view of the under seat assembly? She came with a dual seat set up and the single seat configuration which I'm putting her back too. I've removed the seat frame and helmet lock etc but there are an awful lot of bits, tool box, sleeves, bolts and other stuff I can't fathom where they all go

Having fun trying though :thumb2

Looking to sell on the 2 seat gear?

If he's not, I have the whole assembly I need to sell (not inc the seats, sold those a while ago)...rack, lock, seat retaining lugs, tool kit box....

Swapped the seats and been out for a couple of short jollies - other than the height I think I'm going to enjoy this bike.

2nd question - when cruising (say 40-50 mph) 4th gear, there is a resonance through the whole bike. About 60-70 Hz, not dissimilar to when you had a slightly buckled wheel on your push bike as a kid and each revolution the wheel would rub on the brakes :D. This feels more like an engine vibe, is it normal? Not overly concerning, just unlike anything I've experienced before..

If it's doing it in 4th then they all do that to some degree from what I can tell. Other posts on here about it. Mine does it too . I don't know exactly why it happens, maybe someone here knows why precisely?

Cheers Slippery, if it's common that's good enough for me. I'll concentrate on enjoying riding her instead :beerjug:

I'm not surprised.....the engine is barely ticking over
That's a good point actually. You might find you'll enjoy the ride more by keeping the revs a little higher. The motor seems to be happy there and behaves better (I'm my opinion at least). There's loads of torque so it'll pull from low down the rev range but to get it hussling along they need to climb a bit. Saying all this, I still bump into that 4th gear thing because it seems to cover a fairly wide band of revs (on mine anyway)

Mine pulls quite happily at 40mph in 5th, and will cruise at 2500 in any gear - in 4th it is almost bang on 30mph for built up areas. I cruise mostly at 4000, if I have a long distance ot cover i pick it up to 4500rpm, I find I get there faster because the fuel goes further and I don't need the fuel stops that I do if I go at 5000rpm. Down to Penzance yesterday morning, 2x bikes to photograph for the magazines, then rode back today - 697 mile round trip and a days work in less than 48 hours. 2-and-a-bit tanks of fuel.

I love that sound, mine is in 4th at 3000 revs.
