I've seen some of you asking how to use the BMW puncture repair kit and further questions about it's reliability.
So here are a series of pictures (taken by Jon) as I fixed a puncture on his bike in Spain while there in May 2004.
First remove the offending nail
Then using the serrated tool in the kit, make the hole bigger. It should be about 4mm in dia. when finished.
Next put plenty of glue on the tool tip.
Then fit the plug onto the tool.
Now you need to put plenty of glue onto the plug.
Finally push the plug into the hole with the tool. Wait for a few minutes for the glue to dry and cut the protruding part of the plug off.
Pump the tyre back up and test for leaks with some 'spit', you're now ready to ride off.
THIS IS NOT A PERMANENT FIX but Jon did 600 miles before he had a new tyre fitted. I wouldn't recommend that you ride at high speed either.
