Fixing LED spotlights to a R1100GS

the usual method for an 1100 is to fit a bracket below the beak... easy enough to make yourself if you have access to the materials. Or buy one. either from 'How much' or 'migsel' on this site.

The bracket from 'how much' looks like this.. shown with the lights he supplies if you want them.

Led spots

I've just gone down this route,(albeit on an 1150) as I have blown loads of normal h3 bulbs in the past. I think it was the vibration of the bar as all the wiring/fuses etc were fine.

TBH the output is less than a 2 x 55w bulbs as you would expect but the spread of light to the sides is just what I need on dark roads and as they're fitted to those spots in the above picture (from Howmuch of this parish) they give a blue effect which makes them noticeable for all the smidsy's. The led's are 36 panels and are white light and use 1.5w each I think. Last winter, what with heated grips on full each morning and night, along with 3 x 55w bulbs and using low revs due to snow and ice, I was hard on the battery. This way there's less load.

I was looking for some 7 or 9w led's which are supposed to be the equivalent of 55w h3's but couldn't find any. The ones I've fitted are a pale comparison but as I said, the 'spread is good' and works for me.

Hmmmm, just looked at the link for those spots, they're 10w but only 900 lumen which seems low...look effective tho so it's horses for courses really.
