Flat spot

I've been riding an 1150GS for last couple of months. Totally standard. There is an annoying flat spot at 3k revs, won't hold a steady throttle at that engine speed.

Is it a case of 'they all do that sir' or is there anything I can do to fix it?

Only mod I've got planned is removal of the silencer and running with just the cat, once I can find a suitable piece of pipe to keep the rain out.

Thanks

I changed the air inlet tubes on my 1150GSA from standard to those off an R1150RT. For some reason, the RT's are much shorter and fatter. The original ones are very long and narrower. Apparently the shorter RT tubes mean less swirl in the airbox which provides a more smooth ride, funnily enough 3 grand or thereabouts is 60mph or nearest offer.
I also matched the valve gaps (not just checked them) and this has also made a great difference to the smoothness and pick-up.
Belive it or not!
