Flip helmet tests/assessment

Came across this test/assessment of the various flip helmets on the (German) market. It's all in German, but with Google's translation tool (http://translate.google.com/translate_t) its easy enough, I think, to get the jist of whats being said. The testing was done by the ADAC, Germany's equivalant of the AA.

The scoring is on the basis of the lower the score, the better. As I read it, they seem to rate the lids in the following order .... Schuberth C2, Shoei Synchrotec, Nolan N102, System 5, Caberg Justissimo. etc. Given that Schuberth make the System5, its a bit of a surprise ( I was thinking of buying the latter) - the major differences between both of them (in terms of this assessment anyway) is in the areas of 'Noise' and 'Visor' performance. Someone with good German will be along any minute now.....

Some parts of those tests are complete bollox tho.

Shubi C2 is one of the sheetest ventilating helmets as a compromise making it very silent helmet, you easily can get your own CO2-poisoning

You win you lose. Test results are calculated with weights and weights can be very individual, salesmen can adjust test weights to be beneficial for them any time.

Extreme condition ventilation isn't covered in this test which I consider to be one of the most important factors after protection. All other stuff is just for comfort.

Does C2's chin's windseal still gets in contact with the upper visor's seal when it's lifted up like Concept did? If yes then you can bin the C2 - the seal will be fekked sooner or later if you plan to use the helmet for a long term and Schuberth's client support isn't that user friendly too, I've heard they even don't replace the seal if it's fekked and many Concepts did it

I've heard Arai in cooperation with some other makes did a massive study on protection, cut most (theirs and other makes) of the helmets into pieces, collected helmets that have crashed. It wasn't about "salesmen bollox" to sell more products, this speciefic scientific study was just to educate people who use the products in this market (motorcyclists) and to be beneficial for helmet makers in the future to improve their products. This "broken" helmet exhibition was here in Estonia too last year, I missed it, but those who went to see it didn't think much about Schuberts after seeing them, there were some other makes as well that you normally think as a quality product, but didn't look well from the "inside".

What I'm trying to say here is that nowadays tests aren't objective. Bribes, salesmen bollox, bias, etc etc is everywhere, there exist no "independent test" in the marketing world, unfortunately.
