Flip it, you Tosser

He's somewhat annoying at times, but he is right and his logic is sound :)

He is bang on - that’s why the peak on my E1 was removed and chucked in the garage corner a few years ago.

He’s bang on , as usual . I just wish the Neotec chin bar went up and over like my Shark Evo.
The latter is much nicer to use but hasn’t the same quality as the Shoei

Personally I’ve never worn a peak on the road. I do love Arai’s Pro visor though. It does a good job of keeping the sun out the eyes 👍
I never owned a flip, but I do see the benefits if riding somewhere hot.
Hedon open face has been my go to choice to date.
I still find him quite smarmy and condescending, but that doesn’t make him wrong 🤔

I have an Arai with that pro visor thingy. Yet to ride any distance with it though. I fitted an intercom and it hurts my ears. Maybe I should remove the intercom :blast

Couldn’t really comment on intercoms cause I’ve never used! Lol
It’s one the technologies I have no interest in. I don’t like riding 2 up either. Wife refuses to sit still and I think it’s gay to take a guy unless you’re 18! 🤣

Going off at a tangent regarding intercoms, I gave up on the speakers, they would always end up irritating my ears on longer rides, so with my C5 flip, I have invested in a set of custom fit monitors from ultimate ears. No discomfort, amazing sound quality with volume only set at "2" and with a cheap Bluetooth audio receiver can use in my other helmet that does not have comms. Can still hear everything going on around me as well :)

Absolutely spot on.

IMHO the Shoei Neotec range are the best available, YMMV. Mine is modified to accept my UE monitors with the integrated Shoei comms.

(When my Neotec 2 finally dies I will replace it with another from the Neotec range).

I even do the visor tape strip thing for low sun glare when commuting in Spring and Autumn.

The only thing he omitted was how to wear a thin neck buff as a means to further reduce wind noise coming up through the helmet neck skirt.

I recently moved to a Neotec 3 with integrated Sena SRL3

It’s my first flip front and I like it, very comfortable and very quiet

The only fault I’ve found is that with the chin curtain fitted there’s not enough ventilation, it’s too hot even in winter and the sun visor gets wet from your breath and blurs, without the chin curtain it’s fine

I had to remove the chin curtain from my C5 to, I got the C5 because of needing a custom fit after a craniotomy and my head is now shaped like a 50p coin 😂😂 along with the integrated comms which do work very well, again a sena unit. The C5 itself though is not great and at 18 months old I’m thinking of trying a Neotec 3 when they are about doing their custom fit service.

The C5 started off great but has a really poor visor mech, leaks in heavy rain, and now I’m starting to get some paint peeling which I have touched up as it’s grey and identical to the flat Skoda nimbus grey colour. Not the premium product they would have you believe.

For the annoying chaonin the cap, to their credit when I was custom fitting different size pads on the C5 to get it perfect, true to his word, I sent back the unused pads and was credited back straight away.

I don’t like the way he digs at John Millbank, because at least John does his own testing, Chris just does not like the result, especially when he tested jeans and lined vs unlined.

Not sure about the Neotec 3, but Shoei do a mesh chin curtain for the Neotec 2, which is a hallway house to keep wind noise down and allow a little more ventilation. For £14 it is a great addition to an already great helmet. May be worth a bit of research to see if one is available for the 3.
