Sorry for putting it here but I couldn't find the Italy section.

I'm going to Mugello next year with a pal & we need to find a hotel in Florence for 4 nights. Ideally 3* or 4* & within walking distance of the city centre, 15-20 minutes walk. Obviously must have secure parking for the bikes.

Any suggestions please?

We're planning on going via Calais, Belgium, Luxembourg, Germany, France, Switzerland & down into Italy, allowing 5 days to get there (including getting from Lincoln to Calais).

Coming back will be the more direct route through France, in 3 days.

Despite us both having OCD we're being real anarchists & aren't booking any accomodation other than in Florence. We're just going to see how things go, how we feel on the day & see where we end up, along the route.

We have looked at the Ibis near Florence airport but I was hoping to find something more central & with a bit of character.

A couple of accomodation options on the East side up in the hills I`ve looked at:
Hotel Villa Bonelli
If you want B&B, trip advisor gives these 2 mixed reviews:
B&B RIFEDI and B&B OLIVI E DINTORNI
A taxi or bus ride will get you into the city centre if you want to see the sights, though if your into scooter`s you could stop off at the Piaggio Museum outside Pisa

Was looking for something more central tbh. Appreciate the input though.

I've looked at booking.com and specified 'parking' which brings up a fair number of reasonably priced options.
When you read the reviews, however, many of them simply have on street parking 'near the hotel'.
One of them advertises as 'free parking' but qualifies this by saying it's supposed to be 5 Euros per day, again on street parking, 'but nobody pays and nobody's been fined yet.'.
 
A lot of the reviews I`ve read of accomodation in central Florence complain about the noise of the Campanile, or Bell Tower, in the Cathedral on the Piazza del Duomo in Florence keeping them awake.
Any decent alternative hotels in florence you find, I`d be interested in, as I`m planning to be there in July
 
Been to Florence before but not on the bike. Stayed in an alright 3* place, not very flash but clean & tidy And well located. No parking though. You taking the bike or flying in?

I`ll be on the bike, it`ll be my 1st time in florence & I`ll be planning on staying in florence for 1 night.
The plan is to ride off the morning Bastia ferry at Livorno around noon, a quick ride around Pisa for flower pressing and cheesey photo`s, stop off at the Piaggio museum, before heading to a hotel for the night, and if time permits, wander around Florence for the evening.
Before heading north to Riva Del Garde the next day, following the Tour De Corse route found elsewhere on this forum.
I`ve spent a few hours today looking up various florence hotels on tripadvisor etc, and the Hotel Dali caught my eye, besides its central location, it claims to have a courtyard that is used for (free) parking.
A single room (without a bathroom :() would cost me £32 for the night, with breakfast extra. So I`ve emailed them to see if they have availability

"Parking
The hotel is in the heart of the city, right in the limited traffic area called ZTL. Driving and parking in Florence center is not allowed unless you are a resident. You have an authorization only to reach a hotel, apartment or BB or if you park in a private garage.

The authorization will allow you to drive only ONE time into the city to reach the hotel and ONE to leave.

Please remember that our parking is FREE, placed in the inner courtyard of the building so please respect the following opening times:

Monday to Friday 8am to 1pm and 3pm to 7pm; Saturday 8am to 12pm. Sundays and holidays closed all day.

From 1st December 2011 the City Council of Florence charges one euro every time you drive in the ZTL area, so you will pay the tax to the hotel on your departure.

We kindly ask hotel customers to let us know if they will be driving.

As we have a limited number of parking spots, priority is given to the hotel customers, so clients staying at the apartment won't be sure to have a parking spot until their arrival. We will be pleased to show them other parking area close by as private garages or free spots at Piazzale Michelangelo."

I had read the same warning about parking, which is why when I emailed the hotel I added that parking for my motorcycle was req`d. Without it, the hotel will be a no go for me too. But given that I`m not intending to go until the beginning of July, there should be enough advanced notice for them to squeeze 1 bike in there.
I also think it will be a similar case when it comes to parking for many hotels within the central area of florence. Which is why I`d originally considered the Villa Bonelli over in the east at Fiesole as my 1st choice
 
Thanx guys. I've spent another 2 hours looking this morning & tbh getting a hotel with decent parking, is looking like a non starter.
There are plenty of okay ones if you want to pay £100-£125 per night which I would consider if I was taking the Honey & staying in Firenze during the day, but given that I'm off with my mate & we'll be at the GP all day Thurs, Fri & Sat it's not worth chucking that much money at it tbh.

Really appreciate the efforts though chaps, thanx.
