Day Two ~ Another 200'ish on the clock.
In the Rain.
Again.
This is the United Kingdom after all I guess.
Belchamp St Paul to Chelmsford to Heybridge Basin to Mersey Island to Papermill Lock to Belchamp St Paul via Braintree. The Long Way Round ~ me, McNab, Blunty, MacGregor and Boorman.
Bike just gets better and better, amazing.
What have I picked up upon today form my continuing Tour of Inland Quays of Eastern England?
It's wet.
There must be Modes other than "Rain".
The bike is extremely stable, whether in long, sweeping bends at 80mph+ or along gravel tags, Enduro-style (albeit much slower) standing on pegs.
Is really impressive (though I would need bigger footpegs I think if undertaking more than a little off-road).
The electronics are really spot-on, is interesting to note that as soon as you load up with a bit of torque on the UK's best/worst glass-like road surfaces, the electronics gently kick-in, the orange lights start-a-flashing and everything remains neat, tidy and in shape... I think I may however become too reliant upon it.
As a Tourer this machine will be fantastic, is really rock solid ~ easy-peasy touring speed is, I suspect, 85 to 90mph, bike takes this easily in it's stride and returns 50+mph as isn't being laboured at all.
I think also that one of the reasons that the WC seems so quick is the spread of power and the fact that it has torque absolutely everywhere in the rev range. Along fast flowing roads there's no need to unsettle the bike through having to change down/adjust revs etc for overtakes; gentle twist of the all-electronic throttle and the motor does the rest, is really impressive. Smooth and simple(s).
On the practical side; wind and rain protection very good, even when riding progressively... even had the heated grips on today, comfort is King with this bike.
There must be one "niggle" surely?
Nope, not now ~ this morning I kept hitting the horn button whilst searching for the indicators but know that I've sussed the ergonomics is all dandy. No negative comments at all.
Anyway, in short, I'm loving it and is, I think, the best bike I've ever owned.
Oh, and it's dirty...
