This may appear to be a stupid post considering where I work but I need some advice from you GS experts. I've come to the conclusion I need to either add a new baby to the garage or replace my DRZ supermoto as much as I love it.

I am thinking of finally giving in and buying a Beemer - an R80GS in particular.
So apart from having a reasonably low seat, what is there to look out for when attempting to buy one?
I fancy the Basic because ... well, it looks basic but is this the right choice? Is there a better model I should be looking at?

I need a fairly low seat as I'm 5'2 with stumpy legs but is there a GS apart from the R80 that has a low seat height without removing all the padding from the seat?

What is the going rate for an average one? I don't need a minter as I'll happily tinker away and clean it up but I wouldn't want a dog either.

Any info welcome as I don't get to see many of the older GS's so it's all a little bit vague to me!

PS: Before it's suggested, I've considered the 650 but it doesn't tug the heart strings like the boxer.

Thanks in advance :)

:thumb another convert ;)

You'll probably be able to see (and sit on) lots of varients at the Hog Raost Sharon...they'll be easy to spot, just follow the trails of oil from the campsite entrance :D

Not a convert yet! ... well not fully ... more a lust thing.

Sat on a customers 80GS and it was a weeeee bit high but nothing I couldn't live with. Was the Basic though so I don't know what height the other models sit at.

Hograost? But I don't eat pets :D

I'm sure Judge, Steptoe, Rob F or one of the other resident airheads will be along soon with some sensible comments on models for the, ahem, more petite rider ;)

As for eating pets, the two Daves deserve to be eaten..they've been very naughty little piggies :P
