Has anyone recently flown with Easy Jet and carried on their helmet? I either need to shave 2cms of the width of my head or look for a different solution based on there carry on measurements. Any advice would be appreciated.

We just took our helmets as hand luggage. Never even thought about dimensions. They’re safety equipment so should be ok. I have seen people take their helmets and hand luggage with no problems.

Thanks was that with Easy Jet?

My mate , on a plane to Canary Tours , had his Sena comms devices stripped out of his helmet and handed back to him on a tray , with his empty helmet.

Tell them you indemnify as Jasmine Sally and it’s your handbag. They’ll probably believe you.
The last time I flew with Easy Jet one of the trolly dollys had hands like excavator buckets and an Adam's apple the size of a pink pong ball

I doubt he'll have a problem

I`ve flown with a motorcycle helmet hundreds ot times.... :ROFLMAO:

Why??? Have they explained their drastic reason for removing the comms? Seem a little strange that.

Never had an issue flying domestic or international and I've done loads. It goes in my cabin bag. I always take the comms unit off, but that's just in case it gets knocked.

This reminds me though, we have two new lids (an Arai and a Shoei) which are made to the new standard they seem to have slightly larger shells than before - must check the dimensions as the old ones were pretty much at the maximum size and we're flying with them in less than two months.

Buy a cheap helmet bag for ease of carrying and avoids picking up knocks. Oxford Lidsack is less than £20.

I've just checked the GT Air 3 - it's right on the limit but should be OK. I will never fly Ryanair again and they seem to be the only ones who are really sticky about bag size, but you do have to be able to put the bag in the overhead lockers once onboard.

I’m not unduly surprised that the bolshy chimps on airport security channels, reject an item with wires and battery that they can’t readily identify. They are minimum wage and far from civil. In an earlier day, they’d have been standing on a Polish platform, pushing the old to the showers.

It was a ‘hidden’ inbuilt Sena system in a Schuberth C5. Note that this is a bonkers stupid system with a control unit at the rear and another one at the side ( two points of potential battery comms failure ) and both not at all visible from the outside of the helmet. I.e. hidden . Unlike like wot Cardo doos, which is very visible .

Yes with easy jet - quite a few times . Unless it's an odd size helmet - one dimension IS about 15 or 20mm over the allowed size , so to avoid hassle , I have put it in a small bag and hung it over my shoulder so as not to draw attention to it . Never had a problem , but I know it won't squeeze into the "cage". Plan B was to wear it - never had to use plan B !
