What model is it and how have you rigged it to the Autocom?
Is this the one and if so what does it use for an antenna?

that's the one. just rigged it on to the autocom music lead, which works as the antenna. Works absolutely fine and has about 10 preset stations. I've run the music lead up to a bar bag and keep the radio waterproof in a poly bag.
