Hi all

I was given some extra 12v 55w lights for use on the GS. They have some brackets on them but they don't hang down enough to actually be in view on the front of the bike, see pics (notice where the wires are, this is where the light is). Ok so how do i attach a picture?

Any suggestions where i can either make or buy some hanging brackets?

And will I need to give the GS to my local dealer to plug it in as there will be an extra current drain on the system?

Oh and just to let you know they are only £31.20 for the pair from these guys, http://www.cbsonline.co.uk/product/Miniature_FOG_Lamps_Rectangular_Pair_DRVLT7

And finally, I'm getting quite a bit of vibration through the footrests, so much so that my feet start to go to sleep after about 40mins of riding, any suggestions as to what i can do to stop this?

Thanks in advance.

Have a look at Migsel. I have one on my bike and very well made.

Migsel bar

I did a copy of a Migsel bar for another Tosser as his had broke and yes it seemed very good quality indeed so I would suggest migsel too (mine wasn`t bad either, here is the image).

The Migsel bar and the copy look like lovely bits of kit but are quite a bit of money for something which is only supporting a couple of lights and nothing else.

Looking for cheaper alternatives please as I have very little money to put into this at the moment but would like extra lighting.

Not looking for pretty by the way.

Thanks so far.

migsel has "seconds" with very very minor laser burns which are good value.

if you have crash bars fitted i would just get a set of LED spots as they clamp to the bars.

I will check them out if they have any.

And not yet but don't want LED spots, everyone has them and I would like something different.

Still no clue how to attach a picture...

Would you make another one? How much would you charge Mark?

Bracket update

Found a bracket made by SW Motech. Nowhere near as blingy as the migsel (thank christ, its a light bracket for crying out out loud!) and only £24.99 from Bykebitz in fleet.

Just having the silver bits powder coated black and will post up pictures, or a link, once the install is done.

Anyone know where I can get some black BMW badges for the GS from? The blue in the badge is seriously inappropriate for a triple black...

Oh and just done 4k miles and the back tyre is starting to go square, someone said I should try some continental (TCX???) tyres and with winter coming, and possibly snow, I wondered what everyone else thought about using chunkier tyres and how much mileage I will get out of them.

And finally, has anyone heard of snow wraps or chains for bikes? And before anyone starts going off about this being a stupid idea, in principal it sounds like one but what happens if your like me and slightly mad, your out on the road all day say in December when it starts raining then becomes a whiteout and your still a hundred miles from home and still upright, although how I did last December is still a mystery and boy did I wish for snow chains then, even a rear one would be useful just to keep on going.

I think you mean Continental TKC's which are road biased knobblies and perfect on the GS. Some don't like them because of vibration at speed but I think they give good grip and traction in all weathers although you won't be knee down on roundabouts. They aren't as planted as a road tyre but you soon get used to them:thumb

Tyre life is similar to most others to be honest:thumb
