As you mention to assist full beam, I assume you are talking about improving it for night time riding. So, I assume you are looking at spots not fogs. I have a set of Hella FF50 spots fitted to both of my bikes and they are very good. One set is fitted with 55W HID's and are awesome.

Spots

Just fit the head lights with HID's you won't need an more then that!, see Les Wassle on this site.

I like the look of aux lighting though

What do you want it for? Is it for daytime visibility or long distance lighting for riding at night? Or is it for when riding in fog? You need to decide what you want it for or bite the bullet and have two sets like I do - one for daytime visibility and another for riding at night. I can use the former in fog to.

Or is it the "I look cool" motivation factor here?

nothing cool about a Christmas tree :hide

No have lights for daytime so would be to assist night time long distance. I am just tring to get a feel if people use anything other than hella. I am far too old to care if I look" cool" or not but would quite like to see where I'm going and make good use of my light bar.

FF50 spots and if you really want to see well fit them with HID conversions - they are awesome. You will need to consider how you are going to power them and switch a relay from the OEM high beam.

You have already got a set of lights on the top of your light bar, right?

The Techy bit:

These lights will either be fogs or spots (we'll assume you're an educated man and know the difference :blast) This means the ones you fit to the bottom will need (well should be anyway) the ones you don't have on the top ie fogs on top and spots on bottom (though technically the fogs should be the lowest). Generally the fogs are used on the GSs as daytime running lights, because they throw out a flat wide beem that can be seem from more angles than sopts.

Micro DEs are available in fog or spot configurations. However the thick domed lens gives a milky kind of light, with no dicernable clarity to the light given out. So in my oppinion these are better used in their fog light guise.

The FF50s mensioned above are also available in fog or spot configurations and work well in both guises as they have normal glass lenses. Thay are a completely different shape to the Micro DEs though. So might not be what you are after.

Now, To answer your question, Is there anything like the DEs out there that are recomended?

Yes there are hundreds for you to choose from. Some good, some not so good. Ebay is your friend here.

However, The reason you are getting so many recomendations for the Hella FF50 is that they are very good quality and can easily be upgraded to HiD. As can the Micro DEs. Less Wassell is your man for that.

I will add here, The Micro DEs are really quite heavy, so make sure you light bar is up to the extra weight.

Check what you have already and fit the opposit. What you fit only you can decide. Good luck :thumb2

Apologies (again) to BTBR but it's the upper pair displayed here.

Nicely put cheers. Led running lights on top so spots are the order of the day I think for below. FF50 sounds like the best option cheers as I don't want to waste money on rubbish.

I have a light bar and spots sourced off these here forums ..... i ride a lot of rural country roads at night and the standard dipped beam isnt up to it. I got by right up to the point i hit a deer on the way home.

The seller can be found here although he hasnt been around for a bit but there are some hints on fitting and wiring etc

simple little spotlights that make a huge difference without turning the front of the bike into a Rally car ;)

Here's a pic of what I fitted to my 1150 a while ago, mounted on a Migsel bar.Micro De's and FF50's,wired through the indicator cancel switch, and main beam.
Found them to give more than ample light. HTH

Any reason to have these Hella micros switched or just wired so they come on with the dipped beam?

But that would mean they would go off on full beam.......?

If I want them on all the time then I don't see a way round the switch. Any recommendations on a waterproof switch and mount?
