Might have been cleverer to have both inlet pipes closer to balanced length, which should be achievable as the left cylinder is further forward than the right, as it is they are completely different lengths...

I agree, if they had actually reversed them they would have been closer to equal length, I say more than likely snake oil, no fording any more either.
