For Firefox users on broadband......

I've just been re-tweaking my firefox and thought this might be worth bumping as there have been several posts recently about firefox problems.

I'm still trying the find the excellent hack that made the edit post windoe bigger...can't find the bugger :blast

Thanks for the tweak. It worked a treat:thumb2.
How high can you set the value before you break it / overwhelm it / reach the limit? I see Yoda's was set @ 30.
In any reply please bear in mind where computers are concerned I'm a techno peasant.
Cheers

I just set mine to 50 and it seems fine, flying along!

It's worth revisiting this one for those who did it initially too.....there have been quite a lot of FF updates since I posted that and although it's supposed to carry settings over, mine were back to default (though I guess I've probably reloaded Windows since then too :blast)

Just re-set mine to the above and it still makes a difference:thumb2

Is there any effective upper limit?

I've also set mine to 50 and seems to be G8

Bit of a hijack here.

Dear Dr Firefox
When I used to float the house pointer over a thread title a dialog box would show the first few lines of a thread.
Since updating to 3.5.2 I now only get a blank diag box...

What should I do

No idea I'm afraid, but almost certainly yes.

There are other tweaks you can do such as increasing the number of simultaneous connection pipelines, but if you go too far with that, your IP can be blocked by some servers....it's like barging to the front of the queue and hogging a window.

If you copy the following into Google without the quotes "about:config firefox"
there are hundreds of decent tips.

Do find the one that tells you how to back up your user profile though before having a play, and if you don't and it all goes wrong, just remember it's Tuned In's fault :D

Dear Special Uncle Alan

Check your extensions list- it'll almost certainly be one of those that isn't compatible with the new version (it'll be greyed out)
You can search manually for an update or go to the Firefox addons page or you can try one of the many other extensions that does the same....I use 'Coolpreviews' but there are many more.

Also try "Cooliris" for a really impressive way of making photos or all your tags into a 3d dragable wall, "Tab popup" so that when you mouseover a tab, it shows you what's on that page, and for definite, try "Stumbleupon" but only if you're prepared to waste hours of the night clicking away atthe button (spend a few minutes picking your preferences and refine thenm with the thumbs up or thumbs down button and it learns what you want to see or don't...it's very cool)

Cheers Dr Silverfox.
That'll be more hours wasted on dwarfs.
