Phil,

Tried to reply to your private message but it wouldn't let me.

Regarding your brakes:

It is actually simpler than you think.

From your question I see you have a servo'd model. The problem with the brake lights is that the servo model and non-servo model brake light switches are arse about face.

You will need to change your switches to non-servo switches. They are connected in the normally open configuration. When you pull/press the brake lever the switch contacts close and put 12volts onto the bulb filament.

The servo model switches are wired in the normally closed configuration so that when you pull/press the brake lever the switch contacts open and the servo controller senses this.

There is also an issue with the tail/rear light which needs a bit of rewiring to pull it out of the servo-controller wiring loom and wire it direct to the rear light fuse number 2

So if you have a vehicle or radio electrician down at the police station show them this message and he'll soon figure it out.

As far as the hydraulic system.

Just drain and remove the pipework and servo mechanism from the bike.

The rear brake line plumbs straight into the rear master cylinder.

The front brake line reuires joining with the BMW distribution block or replace your lines with stainless braided lines straight from the master cylinder to the calipers.

As for feel - no problems, I have since replaced the pads with EBC HH ones and I am very happy with them. No sharp grabbing, just good bite and progressive braking.

You could try bypassing the system and leaving it all in place. If your happy with the feel, then go ahead and rip it all out.

Give me a shout if you need any help. I will try and dig out the wire colours that I modified.

By the way, my wife wants to become a police constable, any top tips.

Regards

Del
