You may remember how much I love "I" stuff. Anyway could someone tell me how to update the IOS on my sons Ipod Touch??? Maybe 2nd generation without having to install that wonderful program itunes on my "o" so boring PC, thanks in advance:thumb

This is a very polite question to not be boring

after a certain release (iOS5 or 6?) you can update from the device. before that, you need iTunes.

You are the man, thanks I will close the thread so as not to wind anyone up.

Sorry, I realise I no longer can close threads, consider this thread therefore closed.

Cookie as always in all sincerity my deepest respect for your knowledge and help:thumby:

Not complaining, but it took all night to update my sons Ipod Touch, the famous Itunes said to me back everything up first as I may lose his stuff, the back up lasted for hours (after all the Ipod is a whacking 8GB) and then I went to bed as the OS was being updated. This morning my son is the proud owner of an Ipod Touch up to date.:thumb

But he has lost all his music apps and movies, the back up will not restore and he has therefore ultimately lost about 40€ worth of stuff as everything else I had already. Thanks Itunes:blast

I kind of knew it would happen no big deal, but it grinds me that he lost 40€ worth of stuff, should I contact Apple, probably, but it just seems so much feking hassle.

So I know some of you don't like me saying stuff like this but

APPLE STUFF SUCKS.:hide

I think if he tries downloading an app he has already purchased he wont be charged a second time for it (or at least that worked for me) it advises you the app has already been paid for and you wont be charged.

that is correct.

maybe the backup took so long because the option to back up the the cloud was ticked and you have a crap connection :nenau

it's not that apple stuff sucks, more a case that plenty of people don't understand how it works.
