I own an 1100 that surges/hesitates/pops on overrun, have carried out all usual procedures some improvement but not much.

Bike originally fitted with CAT, now replaced with Remus system.
Running bike with OXY sensor still in place and Pink Coding plug (bike imported from Belgium)
.
Proposing to remove OXY sensor and replace with CO2 pot - making bike as standard UK spec.

What do you think would happen if I left the oxy sensor connected did NOT connect the c02 pot and just changed the pink Code Plug to the beige Code Plug (non cat bike UK spec)?

Or should I go the whole hog and replace the oxy sensor with a co pot?

Your 1100 is expecting to see a lambda probe (oxy sensor). The standard BMW chip as fitted to your belgian import is configured this way. If you remove the sensor and install a CO pot with the standard chip installed, then my guess is that it will run like shit, if it runs at all.
Leave the sensor in place and play with different cat code plugs if you wish.
However, the best solution is to replace the chip. I have a laser chip belonging to a friend of mine that he does not use anymore ( he sold the bike and the buyer wanted the GS in standard format). I also have the CO pot that he bought in order to make the chip work. His bike was a german import, 1995 1100GS. It went like the clappers when he had the chip and CO pot installed.
If you are interested, PM me and I'll see if he wants to sell. I assume that he will.

I for one would dearly love to find out what the difference is between the pink and yellow cat code plugs. does one make the motronic run the bike richer/leaner than the other for instance?

I have a 95 R1100GS and after plenty of investigation and help from this board now have the following configuration:

Remus Viper system, with lambda probe disconnected, no code plug and CO pot installed.

...and it runs lovely. No surging, very occasional pops.

Sorry, but I'm stupid

what is a CO pot CO pot

I'm just about to fit a Y-piece. Was going to keep the lambda and use the Optimax type petrols where possible, cos I've read warning about running weak..

should I get a chip too? Whats the cost and are BMW insurance going to throw £ more premiums at me?
