Help please, is there a way to change the "primary language" of my macbook?

I bought it when i worked in Norway and probably should have sold it before i came back but however...

Its a late 2008 macbook pro, OS X Yosemite v 10.10.5

Is there a way to change the way that if i wanted reinstall anything it would default to Norwegian?

Cheers Col

PS simple computer language please :D

To update the language in Mac OS X, go to the Language & Text panel in System Preferences. You can access the System Preferences by clicking on the Apple menu at the top left of the screen. Once in the Language & Text panel select the Language tab, a list of languages will appear on the left side.

Copied from Google search,I'm no expert though!!

Hope that helps

Thanks, but all that suggestions are done already and it still seems to have Norwegian at its core :)

Back it all up as a time capsule back up then reset and tart again but as the thing starts to boot up select your language and region ?

Yes, thats the next plan

Thanks for the advice :)

No...

If you set the default language properly and reboot, all the OS X localisation kicks in as expected. Any applications you installed while in Norwegian mode might have set their localisation to that, and might need their preference set or reinstalling. If you reload from a TM backup you will probably get them set exactly the same as before.

I just booted my Mac up in Italian, two clicks... Things like Twitter etc were still English, but all the OS X tools will work fine in supported languages like the support article says.

What's Italian for 'United Kingdom'?

Edit... If an app was localized properly to English (and I imagine 99% are, then translated out to other languages), it should automatically load the right strings on launch. Where are you still seeing bits of Norwegian?
