and this as well...
Being as I have never owned a 1200, can someone please tell me what it actually says in the 1200 owners manual about what oil to use?
I have always assumed that rather important piece of information would be incuded therein, but never having actually perused the said pamphlet perhaps I and many others have been jumping to conclusions and jumping down the throats of newbies who ask the question.
Does it actually tell you, or is this information omitted from the manual?
Can someone who can read please quote it for me, or better still post a photo or a PDF of the correct page? Maybe when we have visual evidence then a mod can make it a sticky and it might cut about 30% of the "What oil...?" posts.

With apologies to the lady 1200 owners.........

BLOKES READING INSTRUCTIONS???????

ARE YOU MAD????!!!!:D:D:D

I do believe that there are at least 2 "stickies" at the top of the page related to just this subject............:blast

In fairness I never peruse the 1200 section for information so I never saw them.
I just tend to get dragged in here from time to time. Must be the gravitational effect.

I have to ask, why two? "Common" sense would suggest one would be sufficient. Although saying that, evidently it isn't. Perhaps adding this as a third isn't such a bad idea.

Oh god, I've just felt an overwhelming sense of futility wash over me.

So the information is actually there then?
It does exist and is not just based on opinion and hearsay?

So we can carry on berating idiots for not :rtfm ?

Good. For a moment there I thought I might be being unnecessarily cruel. Now I realise that that is not the case.

Of course it's BMW Assist who I feel sorry for.
Mind you, they're getting paid to listen to numpties asking them stupid questions. We do it for free.
Nah, fcuk 'em.

Ring BMW Assist if you have any questions about what oil to use, what tyre, what pressure, what suspension setting, what oil should I use, what is that funny noise, what is that funny smell, where did I park my bike, how long is will my final drive last, what oil is best etc.
