I know that O/E fork brace for the g/s is something a lot of people are after and that consequently it's as rare as rocking horse poo so thought some of the collective might be interested in an alternative sold by some of the German suppliers including Boxxerparts.

HAve an original already on one of the bikes but was looking for one and did a deal for this pattern version in stainless steel which I'm going to use on the Gambia bike.

Got to admit it's pretty simple but well made and rigid, might have it powder coated black to match the forks cause I'm a tart. :augie

If anyones interested Boxxerparts have a couple listed on Ebay at a cheaper price plus they offer combined shipping if a pair of tossers want to do a combined order.

When I fit the Hi mudguard to the R100GS, will I need to fit something like this too?

Para forks are different, you can use something like:

http://www.motoren-israel.com/product_info.php?info=p479_Fork-Brace-R80GS---R100GS-from-1988.html

The one on my bike looks like steel, maybe a BM bit. Looks a bit cheaper than this one.

IIRC it's on the MAXBMW diagrams, I guess Motorworks etc could get you one. Mine was fitted under the lower mudguard.

Well that looks impressive 'if a little agricultural'.

I just had a look at Jill's 100 and it has a brace under the lo mudguard, probably the same as yours. It's very close to the tyre though, and I'm guessing it'll look a bit odd with the Hi guard and TKC's. :nenau

At 170 euros (£170) I'd rather make one myself.:(

I think its a slight piss-take:(. Its either a copy of, or sourced from San Jose
BMW in the US:

Ultra strong cast alloy fork brace for the R100GS features a ribbed cross section. Cast in high modulus alloy for maximum rigidity. Improves steering response, front end stability and fork action over rough terrain. Fits R100GS bikes built between 1988 and 1990.

They do another model for the 91-95 bikes but are currently waiting for enough orders to get them made. Someone needs to mail them and see how many more orders they need:)

$79

:nenau:nenau Can't find anything relating to the R100's at all. They don't seem to list them.

That`s what I did on the LegoBike.....made my own.

After all,it`s only a bit of folded plate that you need.

Those fancy arse cast or billet ones don`t do the job any better and they end up covered in crap most of the time anyway.

Third item down, p/n 46510

If you're thinking of getting one, would you send me a pm ;)

Ahh! Found it.

I'm thinking more on the lines of Tarka, and making one instead. it's not likely to be very soon, though if I do come up with one I'll be sure to let the Forum know.

The first thing to ditch is the crappy plate top mount and replace it with somthing that stops the forks twisting where they mount...
I made one from a moded lower clamp...
It was the biggest improvement i did to the front end of a standard mono
