Due to a close encounter with a Toyota Previa I need to change the forks on my '89 GS. I have got a replacement front end from a post '90 model (thanks Jay) and I have spotted a difference. The forks from the later have a different top plug because the indicators don't have to be mounted on top of the fork.
Can I just change over the top plugs and how easy a job is it?

Straight forward swap, though you may struggle to hold the forks if they aren't in the yolks. I've just gone the other way with my project.

I just found an old Honda spark plug spanner that fitted the Allen head and my adjustable wrench fitted the other ones.
Surprisingly all four came out without any swearing or skinned knuckles.
I discovered that the old forks had short springs and a 6 inch or so plastic spacer and the newer forks had no spacers and a longer springs. Would any know if this is standard for later models or is it a set of progressive springs?

Off topic, but did you have any luck finding that subframe Jaythro?

Cheers, Benjamin M
