Fork damage!

Just been chatting to a mate who managed to stack his Varadero (1000) into the back of a Discovery.

Once I'd fininised laughing (took a while obviously), said I'd ask here for some help.

Has a slight - very slight - bend to one forkleg. It rides OK (I tried it) - but it pulls to one side. Garage checked it out and agreed diagnosis, but can't do anything about it.

Question - anyone know of a place in N Surrey/S London that can mend - or a use parts supplier that can get one for him?
Cheers.

Man in kingston straightens fork legs for about £10 , no need to dismantle them. I'll find his phone number later

Much obliged.

Even closer frame engineer in Farnham Brian (can't remember his surname but does a top job - 01252 625451

I think for Brian you'll need to dismantle (bit not sure how Steptoe's guy can straighten them without dismantling...or is it just that he does the dismantling?)

It's what he does for a living. Only the bent parts ( stanchions) are put into the press, no need to dismantle any further. The lower stanchions run in the sliders and don't get bent, so why dismantle ?? .

The bends are usually at the point where the stanchions are held in place by the yolks.

Makes sense - any luck with his number?

Cheers.

Brian is the same no need to dismantle the forks but obviously they have to be off the bike
