thinkin of changing fork oil  1989 r80gs para, how much wot sort etc.

Why do I fukin bother:confused:

In all honesty mate, why haven`t you 'fukin bothered' to buy an easily obtainable and not very expensive Haynes Manual for your bike from which you could have found the answer to your question in less time than it would have taken to log on and post your Thread ???

Just borrowed a Haynes from the local library - on page 228 it says 440ml for the right leg and 410ml for the left leg. This should apply to R80GS and R100GS from ´86 and onwards.

On my ´87 monolever the german repair manual says 220ml pr. leg. I use cheap 15w oil fork from Polo-Motorrad and the front suspension works fine :)

the 'best' oil isn't necessarily the 'recommended in the handbook' oil.....different grades will obviously produce different results......

Get off your :soapbox:

It's getting boring now ;)

JABER..stick 10 grade in each fork..all ok :thumb
Mr Farmer Esq. has posted here before( have a search ) of his special mix blend (one fork for compression and one for rebound btw).

Yup all G/s are as stated above..220 for each leg...I use 10 grade as well.

Had the question been about the different results achievable via differing grades and quantities, the answer would have been different.
It wasn`t....so it wasn`t.

Kenny,

It wasn't me who posted the fork oil mix it was Howard Millichamp :thumb

Jaber,

Theres a link to the manual on the site somewhere.

Er! I have gallons of 5 Wt Silcolene Fork oil if that helps..?

Oh, I have lots of cheap chainlube too!

:thumb

How's £25 for 5 ltr..?

The postage is the issue, maybe a courier outfit would be best? It is Silcolene Pro RSF Racing Fork Oil 5 Wt.

I am very diappointed at the low level of take up of my chainlube offer... Almost no abuse???

If you are going to the Highland Gig you could collect it then. I aim to be fit to go there, as I missed the TT.:blast
