Fork protectors

since the tank pannier idea ive been looking for a little sideline to earn a few quid and have come up with a new method of protecting usd & telelever forks from stone chips & salt corrosion. The system im developing could only protect the fork leg itself though. Not the bottom casting unfortunately.

Im in the process of fitting the prototype to my new gs forks as i want to protect them and keep them looking like new.

Just wondering how viable a business charging around £20 for lifelong protection of you forks against stonechips & salt would be? The system would be invisibile after fitting and never need looking after. Also would not interfere with the forks in anyway.

I cant go into details at the minute as to what is involved but before i put it on the market would be interested to see what you guys think.

As mentioned price would be around £20 for a standard kit. Different kits would be available for different size forks.

Might be able to offer partial protection standard RWU forks as well.

Thought this might be of particular interest to trail and motocross riders.

Would it be for the gs mate or enduro bikes? just trying to find out what to focus on.

Enduro bikes tend to come with the rubber gaitor things.
I've got a 650GS single and a 600 Hornet and I'd be interested for both but would need to know more detail before my hard earned and I went our separate ways.

thats perfectly understandable. Ill be fitting a kit to mine so you can see the difference with pics and then go on from there. My mate also has a new hornet and i will be offering a kit to him also.

hello doctor, yeah ill give you a shout soon for it mate. Im putting it on mine first to make sure it all works as it should but otherwise it doesnt take long to fit

well i did my first one this morning. Went pretty well, but the material i have used was too big. So im going down a size. Results look promising though, was very tough and looked smart. When i have the second set of material in (of which im going to get in clear this time and fitted ill put some photos up.

Well i applied the new material to one of my new replacement forks at the weekend. Underneath the clear protectors i applied some of this emergency services reflective tape stuff i was kindly given by a fellow gs rider. The fork protectors now keep this protected and stop it peeling off!

I think it looks pretty good.

Im looking to get some more of this stuff as i havent enough for my other fork at the moment

However, the clear fork protectors look invisible!

yeah ive got to swap over all the sliders and fit new oil & dust seals & need to source some more of that reflective stuff from somewhere.

Thing i never checked was the the blue forks... are they the marker of having the different calipers and discs?
