Hi,

I'm probably going to have to change the bent fork legs on a 650 gs.

Hoping I can get then straightened 'unless of course they're creased at the bottom yoke'

My question is: would it be a good idea to change the seals and both sets of bushes at the same time as fitting new legs?

(I've never quite worked out wich is the stantion and wich is the slider) :nenau

The bike is a 2001 and has been standing for about 15 months, it has 8200 ish miles on it and the current fork seals don't show any sign's of damage, nor do they leak. The forks are slightly bent at the top and are otherwise in good clean condition.

I also suspect that the bottom yoke is bent, (I had this happen on a 900 Yamaha) but is it possible that the lower steering head bearing cup has been distorted? It looks a bit like it gould be.
Is the steerer tube replacable?

Stanchion is the shiney tube - Slider is the lower part that "slides" up and down the shiney tube.

Stanchions can be straightened for about £5 each .

I'd fit new fork seals as the legs are going to be apart anyway.
