Hi,

I have 1150gs myself, so I am enquiring for a friend who has 2001 650.
He wants to change the rear pads and rang me saying he was having difficulty removing the caliper/pads.

Is it the same as on 1150 ??

Can someone please advise the easiest way to remove the caliper to change pads and also if it is required to remove caliper at all.
He also had a problem removing the pin, he is used to hondas ??

Cheers,

Hi there
There is no need to remove the caliper
To change the pads you have to remove the R pin from the pin that holds the pads in place ........ push the pistons backinto the caliper body, .........then use a pin punch to knock the retaining in towards the wheel, you will find it is quite a tight fit once it is removed the pads will tilt up and lift out from the caliper
Hope this helps

P.s you may find it awkward to refit the retaining pin because you have to tap it home through the spokes
