Fork Seal and washer

Hey guys, today spend trying to get fork seals out which needed replacing. Total nightmare, would not move, ended up having to take the forks totally apart so i get could it in a vice and work the damn things out.

Anyhoo in Steptoe's guide i see there is a washer under the seal....there was nothing in mine, could this be why it was so hard to get out??

Is this what i need to order? (Second bottom)

Probably a bit late now but I had a similar drama trying to shift mine until I heated it up using the wife's hair dryer and it then came out really easily.
