Purchased new in May 2003, my Adventure S has so far spent over 30 weeks under or awaiting repair, having taken over 4 months to be returned to me by KTM UK on the last occasion. I am on my 3rd engine, the first one having blown head gaskets on 2 occasions, and the second one not even making it out of KTM HQ before having to be replaced. I am on my third set of spokes (rust)and third set of mirrors (rust). I now have a 2005 engine fitted, and apart from a flat battery (KTM UK fitted carb heaters to the always-on accessory fuse by mistake!!), It has clocked up it's first 600 miles without further incident. Who is this loony?. A mature, careful rider who sticks to the service shedule and doesn't do wheelies up the A38, thats who. With KTM accessories and the bike, I have spent best part of £10,000 and have yet to get between services without problems. Erratic tickover, using oil (that turned out to be broken rings), surging and back-firing (they run weak).
