A quick loop across the four bridges closest to my crib (San Francisco Bay Area). Sorry about the Triumph but at least it's from the UK - that counts, right? :)

In order of appearance: Carquinez, Richmond, Golden Gate, Bay - with some points of interest in between.

The Carquinez

The little non-descript town of Crocket lives at the foot of this bridge (known for it's tweekers and that the band Primus comes from the area) it nevertheless has a Porsche refurb shop (I guess all the meth profits have to go somewhere).

You can find some older things if that's to your liking

The biggest employer is the sugar processing plant - loaded directly to ships moored in the estuary.

Waiting on her fireman I guess

Onto the Richmond Bridge. Richmond's a lovely place. . . if you like urban violence. Created out of the ship yards of WWII, it transplanted thousands of African American's from the deep South who were then left to their own devices when the Liberty ships were no longer needed. Big oil refineries is the only work in the area now - it's a little slice of nastiness in the middle of paradise.

The bridge itself is not exactly easy on the eye either. To my right, out of shot, is San Quintin Prison, the gateway to beautiful Marin. I'm guessing there's a lot more Richmond residents in San Quintin though.

Let's head into Tiburon

The only BMW I could find - the house is for sale if you've got a spare $2.5M.

Must be the most photographed bridge in the world - I won't test your patience with more than one

The Bay Bridge at the bottom of California St.

Very nice. :thumb2

Tiburon looks nice too, is it as expensive an area as Sausalito?

Brings back fond memories of SF. My daughter lives in Sunset, just off Taraval on 42nd Ave and I can't wait to return.

Nice :thumb2

I need to go back to San Francisco.
When were there a few years ago (drove highway 1 north from LA), the further north we got in California, the more I liked the feel. We had an unplanned stop in Valley Ford, north of SF - turned out to be a hidden gem.

You've made me want to go back, but perhaps fly in to Seattle and finish up in SF next time :)

Great pictures, i used to live in San Rafel, i once took the morning off work got on the bike to the old gun enplacments on the Marin side of the GG bridge and watched the Pacific fleet sail in. I will have to post some pictures
