WARRANTY CLAIM!
gods teeth, Vampire, get a grip, it's YOUR fault, stand up and be counted ferrchrissakes. What are you after, a new frame?
May I suggest a scooter.
Now, now, don’t get you knickers in a knot, I am simply doing as you suggest to “stand up and be counted ferrchrissakes”.
Just as we post on this site to inform other owners and forewarn of potential problems, the purpose of submitting a warranty claim on the manufacturer is to inform of design / production issues that could be improved.
If we, the owners, don’t tell them, who will?
Compare the current crop of dirt bikes with those of earlier periods and you will see a host of minor design changes intended to preserve the look and finish of the motorcycle. You can be certain that many of those changes were as a result of customer feedback, not simply manufacturer largesse.
The paint problem is fair “wear and tear” occasioned by the motorcycle being used in accordance with the design intent.
BMW made the 1200 narrower than the 1150 to make it easier to control in unsealed road / off-road use. The paint problem is caused by the sandpaper-like effect of dirt and grit being ground between my boot and the frame.
As for a scooter, I don’t own one because it just won’t take me where I want to go.
Now if you’ll excuse me, I have some interesting tracks to explore.
Ciao,
