I dropped my GS recently and now it looks like the frame under the seat is no longer straight. Everything else seems ok but it clearly hit the ground pretty hard, as did I. Any suggestions as to who could make an inspection and repairs in the North West?
Cheers

Mike

What makes you think the frame is bent?
Please describe the problem.......
I have access to hydraulic pulling gear and tig welding equipment, so I know how to fix and alter frames........but I will say it takes a hell of an impact to bend a frame, the sort of impact that very few are able to walk away from.

Hi Timpo,

With the bike on the centre stand I can see the seat does not sit straight above the rear wheel as it did, not that it is off centre but it is higher on one side than the other. The RHS pegs have also indented into the frame tubes so I presumed something must be out of line somewhere. Having said that, it is rideable. I'm away at sea now and not back unitl Xmas, I don't need the bike over this period as I'll have a car but I do want it to be right and safe. It was dropped at about 30mph and made contact with a kerb but nothing really hard, lost indicators, mirrors, rear brake lever, rear carrier and rhs cyl head was mashed but I rode it home.

Any suggestions?

Thanks for the help

Mike

Vern (project vnd) may have a subframe knocking around that he can put on the bike for you, send him a pm. I know he was breaking a bike a while back.

Vern can either replace, fix or manufacture you one out of spledironium 36 as found on the Indian space rocket :D

I'm not seeing what model GS is it above.... but the seat alignment on all models is mainly dictated by the rear subframe.
The oil and LC models use the engine as the main stress member so damage to the main frame shows up as cracks in alloy castings (Possu+HP2 come to mind!).
Take the seat and tank off, have a look for cracks in or near any framework welds, or any sign of paint cracking around any joints.
