Obviously, I'd love to be able to use the services of either HPN or Richie Moore to get my off-road racer airhead up and running. But I have two major problems
.
Firstly, I'm a very impatient git and I want thing done immediately if not sooner. I could never wait 6months/2 years for workto be done.
Secondly, as an ex-Accountant from Jersey, I am careful with my money ("like a Scotchman with the generosity removed").
So I found a local chap who is an ex-Navy engineer who is an expert welder etc. He has taken the drive shaft from my R65 and extended it by 4 inches/ 100 mm and also modified the twin sided swingarm. He has also expertly braced up the frame around the head stock. I was amazed at the quality of his work as it looks better than anything else I have ever seen. He has cut and welded the swingarm so that it looks like it was done at the BMW factory.
I had to pay for all his time constructing the precise jig he needed to ensure all measurements were aligned etc. What this means of course is that if anyone else wants to use his expertise, then I have already paid the set up costs.
I have invited him to Gentlemens Wee-kend so that anyone interested can see his work on my bike and can commission him to do similar work if required.
We are also working on an interesting mono-shock conversion using a twin shock swingarm but I will not post details until we have finalised all the range of adjustments and are happy with everything.
