I've just joined the GPS fold by buying a Streetpilot ColourMap. It comes with the Atlantic Basemap & UK Metro Guide.

My question is that I will be going to France next summer and so will need mapping info from Cherbourg to Loire. Which CD do I need and does anyone have one to spare?

Cheers in advance,

Welcome to the quirky world of Garmin. you can go to their web site and preview maps. They do various types of maps. Roads and recreation. city maps etc. the color map will have the main roads of France on it, but only some main roads

P.S. you may also want to check for software updates for the color map as well

I intend to venture over during summer but I'm a virgin European bike traveller. Have a contact and some accommodation over there near to La Rochelle. Fancy meeting up sometime?

I'll not exactly be travelling light (ie: not on the GS). I'll be with the wife & kids in a Land Rover Disco, loaded to the roof. Halfords biggest roofbox and 5 adult MTB's hanging off various points. We're heading for Loire to a Eurocamp or something like that.... The wife's arranged it so I just get to know when & the destination. Then I've got to find the way to it... Sort of like a treasure hunt.

The Chateaux

Are definitely worth it (despite what some people say). Several to see (Chambord is simply unbelievable), for the kids, try the Chateau Usse - the inspiration for Disney's Sleeping Beauty.
