Freeview to Monitor

Can anyone point me in the right direction here, please?

I have a mini-freeview tuner, which has only an aerial pass-through, and one scart output.

I want to get the scart signal into a large digital display monitor with only the following inputs:

DVI
HDMI
PC
RBG/Audio

I can't see any suitable cable adaptors on internet, other than Scart/PC

What is the resolution like - using scart/pc adaptor?

The monitor is a 1920 resolution 40" Samsung jobby

Any suggestions?

Might be just as cheap to get a TV dongle.......plug your aerial drekkly into that and use the PC software to display on the monitor

Google up the scart wiring, it carries rgb+audio... some things like sky boxes can be set to rgb out, some are composite only.

However lots of monitors cant sync to the line rate of pal tv or need the sync pulse on green line, so google if your monitor can sync to pal before you get the soldering iron out.

You might be able to find a converter, but better off (cheaper) getting a tv / monitor combo. Samsung make them.

Although I have it hooked up to my laptop for browsing etc - at other times, I want it as a standalone TV.

(It's at work - they sent a monitor, when I ordered a TV. Kept the monitor for my office, and ordered up another TV. I want to get the full use of the thing)

The outlet in my office/room is normal aerial socket, fed from a satellite system.

It has to be a simple solution, so the question is: Is the PC input into the monitor good enough? If so - I can get a Scart/PC cable.

Yes.

HD TV is lower quality than a PC output with pretty much any decent graphics card.

'1080 HD' on a tv is basically a resolution of 1,920 pixels wide by 1,080 high, as the 1080 refers to the horizontal lines and an aspect ratio of 16:9


As long as your graphics card can deal with a resolution of 1920x1080, you'll be sorted at the maximum quality of the current HD TV standards

Right - I think I'm sorted

I'll get a Scart-PC input (not sure name of that one - it's the analog monitor input) for watching TV on it

and

I have DVI output from my laptop (1920 resolution) for browsing etc.
