freezing

Can anyone help, every now and again when I open a new window then decide to close it; it freezes and refuses to close down until I do the ‘ctrl alt del’
Its doing my head in especially when on the Internet cos it means I have to disconnect then start all over again. I’ve done De frag, Scanned with McAfee and it still happens. I must admit to being a bit of a ‘Luddite’ here so any help for the feeble-minded would be greatly appreciated.

download "spybot, search and destroy" its free, that will clean out the spywear that may be causing it.

+1 and try downloading lavasoft's adaware (also free).

Between the two programs you catch 99% of cack.

i use lavasoft's adware too, they both work well together, what one dont find the other does
