Anyone got any decent routes to do some of the French balcony roads please
Dave

I think Captain Arsey could sort you out. He took us on some great routes.

In 2021, some of the most notable "French balcony roads" included the Route de Presles Balcony Road in the Drome and Isere region, known for its craggy tunnels with stunning views, the Gorges du Cians road in the Alpes Maritime, and the Combe Laval Balcony Road which are all considered scenic drives with dramatic cliffside sections and incredible panoramic views;often featuring roads carved directly into the rock face with tunnels and overhangs.

Here’s links to and videos of the three most popular ‘Must do’ balcony roads mentioned above:

This link has more than enough. Scroll down and tap on the blue names, then additional details will pop up. You’ll probably not do them all in one two week holiday:

You’ll have to do a little bit of work to map all 81 out, but hey it’s your holiday.

I’ve sent this one on to one of mates a few days ago
Looks great

Here is a route that I did last year centred on Le Camping Moto.

Takes in most of them in the Vercors Region. (y)

I even put in coffee and lunch breaks. :D

This is a video of the Combe Laval I did four years ago........ for my records :D :D

Wilbur, I know I could look to check on Google Earth, but (in your opinion) would these routes be suitable to do in a car?.

Yes - with the appropriate caution for blind corners etc. The locals use them. (y)

Many of these roads were originally built to bring timber down from the plateau for various industries, including iron works, so they were for horse and carts.

It is a truly spectacular region with lovely villages.

Great choice for a hotel - waypoint 24 on my little route (y)

Gorge du Nan is my favourite down in the Vercors Region.

The hotel Marronnier in the village Rencurel is the place to stay.Great hotel for Motos and all things Velo.
Recommend by UKGSER operatives back-in 2022.

I first went there in 2007 just after Jean-Francois took it over from the two Dutch couples that used to own it - Jean-Francois has now retired and his daughter now runs it I believe - I keep meaning to return but haven't been back since Covid - maybe next Summer :)

Agreed and a nice view on a hot summers day by the swimmers in the pool.
Big hairy men of course.

Thinking of Le Mans and Monaco first and balcony roads back up to Chunnel

I was down Verdon in 2007 and travelled in all directions; boy was it hot that year; :beerjug:

One of others wants to do them so y not
May as well whilst down there

has your mate looked at the location of Le Mans on a map? Hardly, "down there". Of course, if you are using St Malo, it might be on the way, but from Calais or Rotterdam (noting you are up north?
