Here and there.....
This is really a request for information from those Tossers living out in France. As you may have seen a few threads down from this, I have a house down in the Tarn et Garonne which this year I have put up for summer rental. A number of people enquiring are asking for internet access. Now the house obviously has a phone line in,so I was looking into putting in broadband. Any of you guys out there point me in the direction of the cheapest connection I could get, and are there any companies out there you know of who would supply it for say, just six months as I wouldn't need it all year.Any info would be a great help. :thumb2

ASDl Facile is your friend. Stick in your phone number and it will show the offers. If you live in the sticks you might not get broadband anyway.

Actually Orange maybe the cheapest if you want a basic option:-

Découverte sans engagement is hard to beat at 21€. Plus you can cancel at any time. This option doesn't get advertised much.

whatever supplier you do choose, make sure what contract you're signing; it's not so easy to get out of a contract in France as the UK - i.e you can't just ring up and cancel in a lot of cases, but have to cancel in writing within two months of the date of renewal of the next start period. I have been caught out like that, and even with a copy of my work contract confirming that I was working in Italy, and a copy of my flat rental contract in Italy I had to pay for most of a year of Canal + and Canal Sat, and when I just stopped payment they set the baliffs on me ........ so I paid, with bad grace naturally....

Try www.free.fr They have many different contract types and are fully flexible; you can stop the contract anytime with one month's notice. And great service too.

We have lived in France for nearly 5 years now and have always used Orange. They have an English speaking helpline that we have had to use a couple of times and cannot fault the service we have had from them. Not sure if you can have 6 month contracts, but worth asking.

I have Orange pro which is OK but the service is less good than it used to be and very expensive. I've always been reluctant to change because it can be very painful just getting back to where you started from but I have heard good reports of SFR which might be worth a look. What you need is something 'sans engagement' otherwise you'll have to pay for the full year.

We are rural and no broadband telephone line provider is available so worth checking you can get a connection. So I have installed a satellite broadband link through viola.
