Freudenstadt to Klotten Route interests?

I am planning to travel from Freudenstadt in the Black Forrest area to Klotten on the River Mosel. I have done this a number of times but would like some advise on points of interest that you may be have come across en route and would be able to recommend.
Any ideas will be appreciated.

I can recommend crossing the Rhine north of Strasbourg (maybe on one of the free ferries to add some interest). You can wiggle about in the Nord Vosges. Wissembourg is nice for a coffee stop, Bitche has a big fort and there is a Maginot Line Fort museum near Lembach https://goo.gl/maps/XFhCXR3kcHhdMATAA

Others will have to advise on routes from Bitch north - I've always been heading to/from Luxembourg. Looks to have some nice twisty roads up towards Morbach but lack of Streetview hampers research.
