A friend is looking to buy some motorbike gear and is looking for a recommendation.

- it must be low cost
- it will be used for adventure riding
- there will be plenty of off road riding
- it must be rain proof
- it must work from the UK in the winter to Morocco in the early summer

I have the BMW Rallye 2 Pro gear and it works well with the thermal linings and airflow vents, but is two expensive.

Suggestions / recommendations?

Rgrds,

Halvarssons ...

... good kit, excellent quality and relatively inexpensive; try a search on here for opinions :thumb

Yep, tell him to be realistic and that the tooth fairy, Father fekking Xmas and clothing that can do all that do not exist*

:beerjug:

* and anyone who claims that theirs does is just trying to justify their latest expensive purchase to themselves/their missus or is simply talking Bollocks. :D

Sorry, but that there's the truth :comfort

I agree with Fanum, your mate is asking a hell of a lot!
I`d be looking at the sales in the outdoor shops for kit that you can layer to adjust the temperature better and ebay for some hein gericke kit with vents and a cheap set of waterproofs to go over if it`s lashing down or needed as a windproof layer.

:thumb2 Precisely what I do for riding in Morocco, where on one trip, we can get -10 in the high Atlas to +40 in the desert.

Hein gericke airtex kit + buff+ goretex windproof waterproof light walking jacket underneath _ BMW phase change underwear and maybe a couple of thing layers , with a fluffy one in the middle.

Even the airtex stuff on its own isn't good for more than +35c.....at that point, I change to a long sleeve t shirt with just an armour suit over the top, a soaking wet fluffy buff around my neck and a litre of water every two hours down my front.

Not ideal, but cheap and easily packable on a bike with a bit of forethought and knowledge of what's coming in the day.....layers are your friend :thumb2
