Greetings All,

The the new GS coming out next year, there seems to be some good deals on old style GS's at the moment and this has got me interested again in the model. I presently ride an R1150R and I'm considering a change.

Does anyone have experience of both models and could give me an idea how they differ? I'm hoping to arrange a test ride over the Christmas holidays.

Hello Gary,

My feelings of the R & GS, I am new to biking, my first bike was the R, covered 16500 in the 6 months I owned it. I enjoyed riding it but my main desire was for a GS, had my GS for two months now have covered just under 8000 miles. I have found the GS the better bike in handling, more responsive, when handling it it feels very light compared to the R, the gearbox on the GS is more clunkier than the R. As to technical details basically same engine etc. All in all have enjoyed riding the GS more than I did the R.

Hope thats of some help.

Am sure there are others on this web site with more experience than me who will give you better details between the R & GS

Cheers

Mick

you'll love it, simple as that. But be warned, it will lead to financial ruin fitting all those must have parts------------ oh yes you will :D

I went from R1100R to R1150GS - both good bikes, but I much prefer GS riding position and being high up amongst other road users. Top bit of kit.

Gary,

Swapped my Y reg R1150R in September for a new 1150 GS.
Think that the R was faster of the lights, but the GS is much better on the move, It's easier to control at slow speed, better for motorways, great at jumping over speed jumps and overall very very good indeed.

Tried the RT before i bought the GS and thought it was a bit boring for me, as i don't do enought M way cruising to justify one.

IMHO the only down side of the GS is cleaning the wheels. Which is a load of Arse !!, and the lights which are shite.

I will be keeping my GS for at least 2 years as i am very happy with it.
