By copying assorted routes into one file, I think I have created the start of a useful way to possibly get from A, to B, to C via D. It is hosted on Dropbox.
It probably looks like a ball of string but a bit of zooming in and out on a decent sized screen should make things easier. Similarly, recolouring some of the routes and / or just copying the routes you might need should make things clearer.
Are all the routes perfect? No, of course they are not. But I have ridden large chunks of most of them over the years, so can at least say they ain't all bad.
Are there any routes missing? Well, yes of course there are but many of the combinations are there, so play around. Copy the file and muck it around as much as you like, it will not break.
Will I change the file in future? Yes, I will. I picked up 15 route cards from a new Italian motorbike tour route publisher, mostly based on Bolzano and the Dolomites. Will they be much different? Well, I guess yes and no; they will just be an alternative.
Similarly, I would like to add in all the alpine passes, when I can find a reliable Mapsource file of them. If I cannot then I will do the 300 or so manually at some time.
No doubt there are some glitches in some of the routes. No doubt I have missed someone's favourite. Please, criticise anything you find is wrong or innacurate and feel free to flag up great view points, worthwhile excursions, good hotels and great cafes. The excursions and cafes I am keen on. For instance, it is worth taking the chairlift up the Marmolada.... but I haven't got around to marking it in yet.
All the best and have fun. Richard
