hi guys ,

i have a problem with my front brake discs on my 1150gs a few weeks back i noticed that the wavy spacer washers were missing out of one side of my front disc , so i went to mr bmw and ordered 5 brand new ones and fitted them and last weekend i went on a trip round scotland but on day 3 i noticed that not only had all the new wavy washers that i had just fitted gone but the ones on the other front disc had also gone  so i had to drive from Durness on the north coast of scotland back to glasgow with the front of the bike rattleing like hell .
what is causing this problem both disc now move in and out and round the line of the wheel about 3 mm in all directions?
any help would be appriciated as i dont want to keep replacing the washers if there is another problem.

cheers geo

Have you tried removing the calipers and checking that all the pistons are moving freely? Having seized pistons on the BMW EVO equipped bikes is a common fault and could mean a lot of force being put on the wavy washers that they shouldn't aren't designed to cope with.

Are the discs badly warped?

ive checked the discs they are not warped and the pistons move under finger pressure and there is no movement in the wheel bearing. should i just keep buying the washers and replace them every time they disapear?
or is some thieving gypsy stealing my washers in the middle of the night:gringo

Hmmm, I wonder if someone has fitted the wrong length bolts. There should be some moement of the disc possible against the washers when the bolts are torqued to the correct setting.
