Hi,
I have broken one of the plastic discs in the piston on the front calliper when trying to push the piston back. See photo below (notice the hole on the lower piston). At the risk of seriously annoying Steptoe during a gearbox rebuild with my constant phone calls, I thought I'd post this and get some feedback from other knowledgeable tossers.

I've re-assembled the front brakes and am about to order a new calliper unit from Motorworks as Steptoe has recommended.

My query for this forum is: can I ride the bike in its present condition without a real chance of:
1. Brake failure (scary)
2. Brakes seizure (more scary).
3. Brake fluid p1ssing everywhere corroding my bike to dust (scariest).

I have taken the beast for a short run down the road and the brakes seem ok, not as sharp as a tack, but the same as before I took it apart, and there is no sign of leaking brake fluid at this early stage.

Full storey for added sympathy: the neighbour thought he'd move my bike on our shared driveway in my absence, not realising I had on a disc lock and has now broken the speedo cable and done something to the brakes which causes them to stick slightly (lever doesn't fully pop back and there's still a bit of bite on the front wheel until I push the level back), hence the dismantle.

Anyway, any help would be appreciated.

good check also recommended for the bosses which mount the calipers, I know from first hand experience, riding off with disc lock on can snap these.... oops

The repair kit contains pistons :thumb2 I am riding my bike without those plastic bits in on one side, no issues, they are probably there to help prevent squeal :thumb2
