All me own fault I admit.

I recently removed the front cover to have it sand blasted and powder coated.
I replaced the front crank oil seal and bearing when I re-assembled everything and also fitted a new alternator belt. All running ok except now there's an oil leak between the front cover and engine block.
I sealed it with Blue Hylomar, all seemed ok for a few weeks.

I shall have to remove the cover again and scraper off all the old sealant and reaply & refit. What should I use instead?

Hi

Sorry to hear about your leak after so much work, but I would like to see the results of your work, i.e. a photo of the said sandblasted and powder coated front cover.

It would be nice to see how it blends in and at what cost?

Any chance you could oblige and post a picture?

The last two front covers I had done under warranty were sealed with silicone sealant, had to pull the excess off after it had set. Neither leaked oil.

Check the 'O' ring.

Agreed, it will be my first port of call. It is a bit of a bugger to fit without it kinking over but I 'thought' it was seated ok, probably not as it turns out. I think I'll leave it 'til next service, then seal all leaks along with service work.

Hehe, I'll have to wash it first!

As for match, it's a slightly different silver to the engine block but blends in ok, especially as I had the bash plate, engine bars, pegs, heel plates etc also done the same colour. I had the stands both done gloss black as they were getting shabby, all looks new again now!
As for price it was £15 for the lot, for both colours.

I'll post a pic when I wash it next.
