Hi all, I've had my 2010 TC since November last year and its been in to Benham in Wolverhampton twice now to try to get to the bottom of a strange feeling I get that's felt through the handlebars at very slow speeds. If you stand next to the bike and push it forwards there is play in the steering/front suspension somewhere. Its the same sort of feeling that you could get if your handlebar clamps were slightly loose and you could feel the handle bars moving. You cant notice it whilst your on the move only as your literally about to come to a stop. the bike has only done 11,000 miles.
The first time it went back there they said it could only be the top steering bearing or the fork bushes, they replaced the top bearing and said they had pulled the forks apart and everything was ok with those, it did seem very slightly better but within a week or so the issue was as noticeable as before
I booked it in again a few months later to let them have another look and at the same time replace the rear wheel flange.
The second time I took it to them I left them with it and they replaced the rear wheel flange under warranty but said they couldn't find anything wrong with the steering/suspension but when I went to pick it up he would show me with a few other bikes in the showroom what he thought I was feeling saying that it was perfectly normal. When I arrived back there he showed me a couple of other bikes in the showroom but they felt fine to me. I went outside with him and got it to make the knocking whilst moving the suspension up and down and he now said he could now feel what I meant ............................ but he didn't know what it was
he thinks it might be the ball joint on the end of the cantilever but that was very rare on such a low mileage bike, either that or a dodgy new top bearing that they had installed last time round?
I said i'd ask on here and see if anyone had had a similar experience?
Benham to be fair seem like they want to get it fixed but its frustrating to keep doing an 70 mile round trip and getting no further
Help please
