I have recently bought a front Sergent seat for my 12GS, and although after a tour of Scotland last week I can confirm the seat to be excellent, no numb bum at all, it has altered the riding position. I,m 6' 4" and the Sergent has lowered me into the seat making my legs more bent and causing my textiles to strangle the top of my legs eventually causing pain. NO JOKES PLEASE:D

Has anybody else had this problem? I can see that a peg lowering kit to be the answer to open up the angle of my legs, just need pushing in the right direction.
Thanks for your replys.

I agree wi you about the Sargent seat, they're a great improvement but they are a bit lower. I'm 6'6" and have the same problem wi leg length. Go for a lowering kit as I'm sure you'll notice the difference. Also the swivelling pegs help as you can alter the angle of your feet. I made my own and dropped my standard pegs about 2", made all the difference.

I'm also 6'6" and made my own lowered pegs. I sat on a bike with, if I remember correctly, Fastaway pegs and they seemed like a big improvement. Only the thought of 80-odd beer tokens stopped me buying a set so I searched the spares box, bought a friend with a lathe a pint, and ended up with Triumph pillion pegs on the front of the GS1200. The improvement in comfort is out of all proportion to the cost of the pint. Since most BMW pegs seem to take the same fitting, a trip to the local breakers might be an affordable and much easier way to try out the idea.

You've obviously put the seat in the high position, but removing the rubbers from the footpegs helps as well as making the relative position between the footpegs and the brake/gearchange better. (before spending any money)

Fitting my lowered footpegs lets me have the standard seat on high front and low back (and I don't care that the handbook forbids something so comfortable). Crushed nuts might be OK on an icecream but not on me.

I thought about lowering my pegs but in doing so would probably scuff the tips of my boots...:thumb I ended up just taking the rubbers off the pegs and even that wee bit (about 10-15mm) seemed to help.

I very quickly got used to raising and pointing my toes inwards for each corner. I do it automaticaly now although I sometimes still touch down.
You could just move your feet back a wee bit for corners.
