The headlight on my 11 GSA is crap despite trying all sorts of bulbs. The last ones were from Halfords claiming 70% more light etc but still not that good. I finally resorted to a BMW supplied lamp - to put it mildly I might as well have a small torch tapped to the front! They did try and sell me a bulb to do the trick but wanted £46 for it!!!!

Does anyone else have the same problem or maybe can recommend a decent bulb that gives a decent amount of light.

You don't really deserve a reply because you're so lazy.

1) Try adjusting the stock headlight.

2) Search the forum for the billions of options including HIDs, aux lights, LED lights.....

3) Eat more carrots.

4) Remove the headlight protector.

Ps: how's your rear headlight?

Also be sure the inside of the lens is clean. I thought my headlight was lousy and considered a HID conversion, spot lights etc, but after I'd removed the unit and cleaned the inside of the lens I now find it perfectly acceptable on it's own with standard bulbs.
Remove unit, take out bulbs and through the bulb holes use a long piece of dowel with a bit of cleaning rag wrapped round the end - a spray of a cleaner such as Mr Sheen helps.
Some lenses seem to fog on the inside worse than others, maybe the environment it's kept in, not sure.

HID is the only real way to significantly improve output. I was reminded of this recently when my HID stopped working.........the standard output is dire.

Hid

Les Wassal of this parish, I got a 1200 gsa tb last Dec, 2weeks later Les fitted Hid and a LED to the lot, dogs do dahs, coming from a KTM 950 SM the beemer lights were quite good but not a patch on the current set up. however there are developments in the LED field of technology which may replace Hid.:thumb2
